Productive Polders

Over the past 50 years, Amsterdam has expanded primarily southward, addressing demands for housing density, flood mitigation, and agricultural output as the Netherlands ranks high in global agricultural exports. Optimizing existing land is crucial to balance growth, minimizing outward expansion while preserving productive agricultural systems within city boundaries.

This project seeks to transform the polder lands, enhancing both agricultural yield and housing capacity while integrating human experience alongside water and infrastructure networks for a resilient, multi-functional landscape
